Run a pass and read the real %

What actually gets smaller
This page opens the PDF with pdf-lib and saves it again. High / Maximum turn on object streams. That can trim some bulk. It is not a WASM “optimizer”, and it does not strip fonts or rewrite images.
I compressed a college notice (all text) and saved about 2%. The yellow note on the result screen was right: already tight. A phone-scan marksheet moved more.

When the size barely moves
If someone promised 40–80% every time, that was the estimate bar talking, not the encoder.
- •Text-only GSTR working paper or a typed circular: often 0–10%. Use that as a pass, not a miracle.
- •Scanned ITR pages / photo-heavy forms: more room, still not a guaranteed 80%.
- •Font, image, and flatten toggles on this page are not wired into the save path. Do not trust them yet.
- •Password PDF: unlock first. The toast will say password or corrupt.
